The key principle of the ICMG Enterprise Anatomy Model: the concept of "One Enterprise, One Anatomy."

This principle challenges traditional models by asserting that every enterprise, and every project within it, shares a single definitive anatomy. This unified approach suggests that the fundamental building blocks for project anatomy, department-level anatomy, and enterprise-wide anatomy are inherently the same.

How This Approach is a Breakthrough Compared to Traditional Frameworks

Imagine the early days of medicine, where treatments were often based on superficial symptoms—applying ointments to rashes or giving painkillers for headaches—without understanding the existence of human anatomy and underlying causes.

Similarly, many traditional business and technology frameworks focus on isolated symptoms, using surface level analysis to find immediate answers but often missing the project anatomy, department anatomy and the enterprise anatomy.

The Enterprise Anatomy model, however, is like the breakthrough in medicine that came with the understanding of human anatomy.

Just as doctors now consider how the circulatory, nervous, and immune systems interact before diagnosing and treating a condition, the Enterprise Anatomy model examines the

interconnectedness of strategy, processes, systems, components, and operations within an organization.
